I was wrong ...

... about the Knicks. I'd be suprised to see the Knicks win 25 games this season. It looks like the team has regressed in talent. I hope LB knows what he's doing. The vets look like rookies and vice versa. When David Lee and Channing Frye are your best performers, you're in for a long season.

Take the Giants talent, divide it by 2.5 and you get this season's Knicks. Pathetic fellas.

I just need to vent.

Until next season.

I told you so

The Giants will win a Super Bowl before the completion of the 2010-11 season.

Take the over, I dare you.

I'm taking bets.

And now please refer to Payton and Archie Manning as "Eli's brother" and "Eli's father."

Thank you.

Isiah the Wiz

It's no secret that I'm a huge Knicks fan, win or lose, pre and post-Isiah.
While I disagreed with many of his moves (trading away Nazr Mohammed for two washed up PFs), I, unlike many haters, have acknowledged to friends and family the many positive changes Isiah has made. And as Isiah enters Year 3 as Knicks GM, he may have pulled off one of the greatest trades in NBA history (with one small catch: a potentially fatal heart ailment). Given Isiah's reputation, I entrust he did his homework.

With that said, Curry, a 7-foot 300 pound giant, is the biggest center to hit New York City since the legendary Patrick Ewing. Curry averaged nearly 17 ppg last season and was the offensive leader for an overachieving Bulls team last year. He's easily the second best center in the Eastern Conference (Shaq is still too dominant). And he's just 22. That means 10-plus years.
All of this is contingent upon the condition of Curry's heart, which by mid-day Wednesday, will be disclosed. If Curry passes his physical, expect the Knicks -- a team everybody loves to hate -- to be a force for the next decade. And Isiah deserves all the credit.

2005-06 potential lineup:
PG: 1. Marbury 2. N. Robinson
SG: 1. Crawford 2. Houston
SF: 1. Q-rich 2. Ariza
PF: 1. Frye 2. M. Rose
C: 1. Curry 2. J. James

With the exception of our PFs, each position has All-star quality with more-than-capable back-ups.

My prediction (barring this trade and a relatively healthy roster): 46-36 (4th place in East).
Expect the Knicks to get better and better each year.

He's no Ron Burgundy

Here's an attempt to salvage last night's 45-23 loss to the Chargers ...

Yes, the Giants lost. But Eli played the best game of his career despite the boos, those creative signs, a desperate 0-2 Charger team and an ESPN stage. The numbers: 352 yards. 2 TDs. 0 Ints. The Giants' front seven was so porous, giving up 192 yards to LT, it couldn't stop a runny nose if it tried. Too bad the Giants atrocious D overshadowed Eli's accomplishments yesterday.

That being said. Here's some perspective on the growth of San Diego's enemy No. 1, Eli Manning.

Manning vs. Manning through the first three games of the NFL season:
Eli: 689 yards, 5 TDs, 2 INTs
Peyton: 604 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs

But Payton and the Colts lead in the most important number, wins, 3 to 2. And they have a much better defense.

Putting the gloves back on

Defeated by monotony just five days after ending one of the craziest summer vacations of my life, I've decided to return to the world of the blog because I'm ... well ... bored. One can play only so much tennis and watch so much football and play so much Madden before the lack of a purpose begins to eat at his/her conscience. Right now I'm doing nothing productive. Nothing. Oh, and I miss writing terribly.

I realized it is much easier writing for an audience than for yourself. To sit down and start writing, knowing the words lack any sort of influence over another human is kind of depressing. I mean ... we write to inform, to influence. Even if my new audience consists of a random Daily staffer and a lost blogspot.com user, I'll take it. I don't expect to write as often as The Realest and co. does, but I'll do so when I feel up to it.

I need a vacation from my vacation.
Europe. New York City. Caribbean islands.
I owe its success to my awesome friends, many of whom became family after we traveled together 24/7 for almost 2 months. And, of course, to my parents since they never pressured me to get a job or hassled me about cashing in the CD I was supposed to keep in the bank.

I definitely have changed in some ways since the end of college. And I'd like to think these changes are for the better. Of course, most of the trip was five kids embracing all aspects of European culture. This included lots of fun, sometimes to excess. But never crossing the line. And spending a month in The City was a dream come true. The beginning of high school and college always kept me away from The City in the Fall. But now I could finally open The Post and read about Giants training camp! That's a big deal for me. My good friend Steve also made a profound difference in my life. The kid is a diamond. Never met anybody who has such ... how do I even say it accurately ... power over people. But he doesn't abuse it. He uses it responsibly. That sounds a bit silly doesn't it but, then again, you haven't met Steve.

Time for me to cash out.
Expect blogs about sports, mainly the NYF Giants since it is football season. I'll try to avoid Michigan football since, by nature, I'm a positive person. And if I see any good movies, I'll blog about it. Which reminds me ... go rent Donnie Darko ASAP if you haven't already seen the movie.

Until next time.

Last blog ... for awhile

I've decided to give up the blogging for various reasons.

Anyways, a good friend advised that a good way for me to get feedback on my writing is to post it here, so I may do that sometime in the far future.

Off to Europe

I'm headed to Europe tomorrow afternoon but before I leave there is some unfinished business to take care of. I'm going to miss a lot of sports related entertainment while I'm gone so I figured I would make some predictions:

-If Miami plays San Antonio in the NBA Finals and Shaq and Wade are "healthy," than I say Miami wins 4-3

-If Miami plays San Antonio in the NBA Finals and Shaq and Wade are "unhealthy," than I say San Antonio wins 4-2, 4-1 (they could even sweep).

-If Detroit plays San Antonio in the Finals, barring no major injuries to either team, I say San Antonio wins in 6 or 7 games. As my housemate Mark pointed out to me earlier in the playoffs, I was wrong about picking LA to sweep the Pistons last year... so... take that as you will.

-I'm not sure who the Knicks will pick in the NBA Draft (late June), but I bet it will be one of the following if they are still available: Channing Frye, Chris Taft, Charlie V or Danny Granger. I'd be happy with Granger or Taft, and, if he slips, I'd love to take Fran Vazquez. Isiah better stay away from Charlie and Frye. I hope either Andrew Bynum, Simien or Warrick slip all the way to No. 30 so the Knicks can select any of them with their second first round pick.

-There will be one or two major trades during the NBA draft. Sprewell will be gone from Minny, hopefully not back to NY.

-The Yankees will make another run in June. They will go on a 19-9 run during the time that I am gone to sit at 47-37 when I return home.

-This will be my last blog at least until July 9 or so if I decide to come home ... on time.

P.S.
If anyone needs to reach me, call my cell phone and the the message will instruct you.
